Death Note in the US?

Hello everyone. I just recently joined Livejournal so I could join this community. I'm a longtime fan of Death Note and follower of this community. Ordinarily, I would keep hidden in the background, but when I found this: http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=6124 I thought I should post it. Is this perhaps why WtF took down their direct downloads? What effects does everyone think this could have on scanlations, if any?

stooopid question

ok... so everyone's saying that dn is only going to be irc'ed now. i don't use irc (too lazy to learn how). but i have a domain that is doing NOTHING at the moment, so i'm considering hosting dn zips. but is this even necessary?
better put: what are the existing http sites?

Death Note Related Books.

I have to read a book for philosophy class and then write about the philosophical aspects of it. I love the discussions that Death Note can bring up, but can't use it considering it's a manga and not a book. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of any books that deal with similar themes as Death Note? Not necessarily a detective book or anything, but one where the definition of right and wrong are blurred, or something similar to that. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. =)

PS, If this is too off topic, please tell me so I can delete the post.
