L & Light

Final Impressions of the English Dub...

A pretty late thread, but...
Now that all the English Death Note volumes have finished coming out (and the Adult Swim airing is over), it might be interesting for us to give our final impressions on the dub. There is always much talk about an anime dub in the beginning and then it tapers off. After it's over the discussion ceases. But that's the perfect opportunity to look back in hindsight. Dub voice actors need time to get into the role and the mood of the story. So performances may be awkward at first and then change over the course of a series. They tighten up and become more familiar to us as the actor settles into the role.

Here is the main cast:

Brad Swaile as Light Yagami
Alessandro Juliani as L
Andrew Kavadas as Kyousuke Higuchi
Brian Drummond as Ryuk
Cathy Weseluck as Near
Chris Britton as Soichiro Yagami
Colleen Wheeler as Rem
David Hurwitz as Mello
Heather Doerksen as Kiyomi Takada
Kirby Morrow as Teru Mikami
Shannon Chan-Kent as Misa Amane
Trevor Devall as Shuichi Aizawa
Vincent Tong as Tota Matsuda

Please give your final impression of the dub performances. Share the moments or specific dialogue that prompted your opinion. Make comparisons to the original Japanese track if you like. (Though the last thing I want is traditional "Sub vs Dub" bickering amongst people here. Try to be respectful of each others opinions.) Be honest as to what worked for you and what didn't.

Pairing: L/Raito, Raito/L.

Summary: Sequel to ‘New Addiction’. L and Raito have started their relationship. When the past comes to haunt them, will they stick together or will it pull them apart for good?

Notes: Thanks for all the lovely reviews/comments I have gotten for this story. It really helps me write more. Hope you enjoy this chapter and please tell me what you think.
